How Important Is Healthcare

The expression health-care is the provision of medical services plus the general prevention and management of illness using paid medical resources. However, The World Health Organization believes the meaning should also incorporate all related industries and be a service available to everyone irrespective of who they, which means people as well as whole groups of people. Any collective group of medical professionals and services dedicated to providing this would be termed a healthcare system.

The English speaking world used to call this subject just medicine or refer to it the health sector which basically meant the same but it was before the term healthcare was coined. Most developed and even developing nations have a system of health care for all to cater for those who cannot pay. Of course the first country wide healthcare service begun in the UK in 1948 and was called The National Health Service being the first to be organized and funded by the government.

Alternatively a system of compulsory government funded health insurance with nominal fees can be provided, as with Italy, which, according to The WHO, has the second-best health system in the world. Other examples are Medicare in Australia, established in the 1970s by the Labor administration, and by the same name Medicare in Canada, established between almost twenty and 1984. The main nations that do not support this universal healthcare service are America and South Africa, although they are making reforms to their health service. people who work in health care include all professionals whose job it is to uphold life, treat and cure sickness and try to better the health of individuals. The collective expression for this is the health care industry but the word industry may not necessarily be the best one to use.

Over a relatively short period of time, the healthcare industry has become one of the fastest growing in the world with an average growth rate of just over ten percent of the gross domestic product of many developed countries and is still growing, playing a huge role in the domestic economies of most nations. America bucks this trend with, back in 2003, a health industry responsible or over fifteen percent of gross domestic product but this is expected to rise considerably by 2016 when it will almost one fifth of America GDP.

This is causing problems for large numbers of Americans with one hundred eighty million currently seeking adequate healthcare provision and it is also their single biggest concern. Many large companies in The United States are feeling the effects of these rises in healthcare provision and an extreme case was where the car giant General Motors was seriously considering bankruptcy because of it. Luckily it didn’t happen after some concessions and compromises made with the unions but it does show how something like this can have an outcome on even the largest of companies.

Workers in America place this as their number one priority when looking for a potential employer and often will move to a lower paid position just to better their medical care. The health of the people on this planet should be something that is based on prevention rather than cure, a case of being hands-on as apposed to reactive.
