Nursing Schools and Resource
There are over 120,000 nursing positions that need to be filled up in the United States and the nursing schools are doing their best to address this. It is projected that this shortage would even increase at a very high rate.
Nurses can name their price. Some are making as much as $60-70 per hour. Yes, these are the best of times and the worst of times for nurses.
Good, because they can practically name the terms of their employment. Bad because they are being over worked and our health care is suffering as a result of it. It is only a matter of time that someone’s life is lost as a result of this.
American hospitals are starting to look overseas to satisfy their need for nurses. As this is being written, legislation is being worked to allow these immigrants a path to citizenship as they work in our hospitals.
But the health care system that there migrant nurses will be leaving are also suffering from nursing shortage. How can they now address this problem?
The US government throws money at everything. In nursing education they give grants, loans, assistance, etc. But the lack of nursing faculty has prevented some nursing students to be educated.
The hospitals and agencies could look into other options to encourage people to join the nursing workforce. They are willing to give big bonuses to qualified nurses who sign up with them.
Be part of the team who will be able to make a difference. Become a nurse by enrolling in the degree programs of nursing school study.
