What I’ve Learned About Nail Fungus Can Help You

Nail Fungus is an embarrassing and uncomfortable affliction, infecting many people so consider yourself lucky if you have been spared this ordeal of nail disfigurement.

Suffering this affliction repeatedly I have experienced some horrific moments where my toenails raised and dislodged from my toes. The doctor also warned that the new nails will take a year to grow and might be disfigured. The good news was that a healthy nails grew back, but at an excruciatingly slow rate, throwing my life out of gear by having to avoid the beach and pool.

Being of a helpful nature, I want to draw people’s attention to the symptoms of nail fungus and how to cure it. I want to make sure that your nails grow back correctly and have the best appearance.

Learning about nail fungus infections took me some time and detailed exploring. What I found is that this affliction can occur due to fungus forming in-between the nail and skin or in minute cuts surrounding a nail. This problem is not serious if you are of healthy disposition, but the afflicted area can look pretty ugly, as it did for me, and can be painful if it deteriorates.

There are many organisms that could cause nail fungus including yeasts, molds and fungus. These organisms grow in moist places that are warm, and they can spread from person to person more easily than you think. Most people contract nail fungus from walking barefoot in public places, from public showers, public pools, sharing items such as nail files, clippers, towels, etc. I’m pretty sure I got mine from my local nail salons but it is almost impossible to know exactly.

It is more important to know the symptoms so that you can get down to curing it without any delay. Symptoms to look out for:

-Your nail turns yellow, black or white -Your nail becomes thicker -Your nail crumbles and splits -You nail separates from the skin -It becomes uncomfortable or painful to wear shoes or walk

Avoiding symptoms can make it harder to get rid of nail fungus and will definitely lengthen the treatment period.

Experiencing this malady several times I’ve had a chance to experiment with prescription medicine and other remedies. I discovered that over the counter remedies worked the same as prescription cures and had much less side effects as well. Therefore, seeing a doctor, in my opinion, is unnecessary for curing nail fungus. Your best bet is to concentrate on over the counter remedies. I would also recommend not trying any hyped home concoctions as they won’t do you any good and will only lengthen the recovery period.

Topically applied anti-fungal products are my preference because they are extremely effective and I really don’t like the idea of taking something orally which affects my whole body for just a nail problem. Believe me, there are plenty of prescription strength topical antifungal products available over the counter that, if used properly and regularly, will guarantee that you will have clear, healthy nails again. They worked for me.

No one wants to be uncomfortable or embarrassed by an unsightly fungal infection. Don’t waste time - do something today to get rid of your nail fungus.
