The Pros And Cons Of Laser Eye Surgery

So what are the pros and cons of laser eye surgery? First off we look at what the pros are before having a look at some of the cons.

1. It can certainly change your life in a much more positive way. Around 90% of all people who have this form of surgery find that there is no longer any need to wear glasses or contact lenses. Just the simple pleasure of opening your eyes in the morning after a good night’s sleep is something many of us dream about.

2. Yes laser surgery is expensive, but then you won’t be faced having to spend money on a regular basis to replace contact lenses or glasses. This may well be the case if you are someone who knows that in the coming years this problem will become much worse.

3. Unfortunately in some cases although your vision during the day may be excellent, at night it can become extremely poor. Plus for some people seeing a halo effect around lights is a common side effect following this surgery so driving at night can be very hazardous unless you wear glasses. But many people will put up with this side effect as a result of them having perfect sight during the day.

4. If you don’t have the laser eye surgery carried out by a reputable surgeon then there you may be risking quite a lot. If they use unsafe equipment then this could lead to more damage being caused to your eyes rather than having your sight improved. Plus the risk of an infection to the cornea developing is greatly increased. So be very wary about where you have the operation carried out.

As you can see, there are a number of pros & cons to having laser eye surgery however in general, it can help your sight in the long term. Another popular treatment is cataract surgery which can also improve your eyesight.
